Presentation of the IMVT's new institute logo

June 2, 2025

As part of increasing its international visibility and shaping the institute's identity, the Institute of Mechanical Process Engineering (IMVT) is presenting itself with a new institute logo. The centerpiece is a logo that has been registered since March 2024. The logo consists of the capital letter “S” for Stuttgart in the background and the heraldic horse of the city of Stuttgart or the “Stuttgarter Rössle” in the foreground. The “S” also reflects the “Stuttgart way” in an abstract form, which is pursued both within the framework of the Stuttgart model for integration and in the research profile of the University of Stuttgart. The unbridled horse as a symbol of freedom and strength reflects the “freedom in research and teaching” and the high standards that Stuttgart's teaching and research institutions do justice to in this respect. In future, the logo is also to be used across disciplines in the field of “Education, Science and Research” and specifically for projecting excellence in the education of natural and engineering sciences “made in Stuttgart” to the (national and international) public.

The initials of the institute are arranged around the new logo, with “IM” also standing for “I am” and ‘VTech’ for “Process Engineering”.  The founding year of the institute (1963) was also incorporated into the new logo.
